I should have suspected as much, the way I've been reacting to all the Barbie chatter. A long-buried memory fighting its way to the surface.
I tried to suppress it and suppress all of you in your Barbie visitations. But would you listen? Nooooo. And now it's surfaced -- the recollection of a science fiction short story I wrote over 20 years ago: "The Barbie-Ken Holocaust."
Submitted to a workshop run by Kate Wilhelm and Damon Knight at Michigan State University. Not. Well. Received. Much discussion, if I recall, about "politically incorrect." Not about its presence, but the degree.
The group consensus: "Never ever write something like this again."
Keep this up, doomers, and I'll dig it up, type it in, and subject you to the link.
grrrr.
