I was disappointed too with Asoka, because it is overly long-winded, even for Bollywood, and I can only take so much of Sharukh's dreamy smolder. He's like the Tom Cruise of India. I agree with you about Kareena too. Her face reminds me of Meryl Streep's, but she's more like the Drew Barrymore of India. Actually, it was so long ago when I saw that, I can't really remember it well.
Visiting India taught me a lot about Asoka. The image of the three-headed lion posts (symbolic of the three treasures of Buddha) is on Indian rupee. I saw one of those posts. His impact on Buddhist history is significant. He's like the Martin Luther of India. No wait, that doesn't quite work. He's like the...the...aw, I got nothing.
That weapon is called an urumi or chuttuval. It's a freaking crazy ass beast, like a flat wide chain whip but sharp. It's amazing the user doesn't flay themselves to shreds.
