Kung Fu Panda 2

This finally surfaced in my Netflix queue.

I liked it a lot. The beginning was tired and I was a little concerned about a boring sequel, but I found the 'inner peace' and 'searching for your identity' thing kind of cool.

The voice acting was top-notch, especially Gary Oldman. The animation was a little choppy and some graphic elements were sub-par but the story and music helped balance it out.

I teared up a bit at the end. The 'hero finding his inner strength to save his friends' thing always gets to me. It's part of my weakness for redemption movies, but somehow only 3D animated renders bring it out. Don't show me 'Iron Giant' without a box of Kleenex.

(Heh - typing this while watching the credits. Immediately after the credits the movie starts again. TV as babysitter just got easier!)

Anyway, fun film, good way to introduce Western kids to martial arts and a fine message of changing the path of a painful past to a promising future.

Weird message of accepting obesity but that is another discussion.
