I don't care what market a Production Designer is in, his ego will not let him buy stock anything. They need to put their stamp on everything. Case in point. We had to modify the backlot at Universal for the Production Designer. This was the backlot that had burned down and just been rebuilt. It was brand new and no one had shot on the street. Construction still had to change every building on the street.
They use CGI effects because they are easy to use. Not because they are cheap to use. If they were cheap it wouldn't cost Pixar $150million to make a movie.
