My story, "Fishing Excursion along the Lower Yangtze," just got rejected by the editors at Shanghai Steam. I will admit that this hurts a bit, but at the same time it opens the door for me to fine-tune the three stories and present them to a bigger market.
It's a lot like getting drunk at the local tavern and hitting on the aging whore at the end of the bar, only to have her slap you, which stings a bit because you're being rejected, but at the same time her tic looks an awful lot like a wink, giving you hope.
