Let the hating begin.
The original Fright Night was fun because of it's camp and that it started off with paranoia. Was the guy next store really a vampire?
You get neither in the remake. Right away you know Farrel is a vampire and he does nothing to hide the fact. As for the camp every one is deadly serious, not a joke to be found anywhere. And at it's core, the whole premise should be funny. I spent the picture marveling at Farrell overacting ability and his strange way of walking which I guess was supposed to otherworldly?
It does have the cameo you expect. It was filmed in 3-d so there are a lot of shots that make you wonder why they shot that paint can coming at the screen and then you remember the 3-d. I think it would make the great basis for a drinking game, every time you see a 3-D specific shot in 2-D, you take a shot.
There was a blooper real as part of the DVD extras. That is where the best laughs are found.
I realized later that the Vampire Hunter was played Dr. Who's David Tennant.
