Naw, it just takes some work. Growing up in LA, in the home town of the LA County Fair, I used to watch some very impressive water ski shows on the little water ski pond there. Lots of standing on shoulders routines. Nothing quite to this scale, but I guess if you grow up with water skis attached to your feet, ain't no big thing to climb on somebody else's shoulders. At least, they always made it look dang easy.
Of course, this is the same place I saw live demos of the original jet pack, and I don't have one in my garage, so maybe it wasn't that easy. Wait, my garage is pretty chock-full. Maybe I do have one in there....
