What a terrible film.
The original had a goofy plot but at least threw in a nearly non-stop on-the-run adventure. Everything was colorful and bright. The characters were pleasantly one-dimensional and the pacing matched the attention span of the 12 year old target audience.
The remake is boring, bland and dull. The unnecessary dialog scenes are way too long. I was mentally editing them out in my head and shortened the movie by 30 minutes with no loss in character development.
The costumes were X-Men black with a couple white neon spots here and there. Where did the psychedelic blue circuitry patterns go? You'd think that with CGI they could have made costumes that spat energy and flowed around the wearer in a crazy multi-colored labyrinth.
The sets were both spartan and garish and not doing either genre any favors. Flynn's neo-victorian condo was the best example. Plain white walls except for a bookshelf and dining table bearing a roast pig. Everyone knows programs just drink energy straight from the source.
I won't even go into the Zeus scene. WTF?
The 3D was unnoticeable.
All in all I was very disappointed that a great Tron film is still waiting to be made.
