IMDB Link: Flatland
This animated feature is based on the 1880 novel by Edwin Abbot. 'Flatland' tells the story of a 2-dimensional world and what happens when beings from that world meet beings from uni- and multi-dimensional worlds. It's an animated geometry lesson that plays with space, culture and politics.
What it really does is make your brain melt because you don't remember taking any drugs but suddenly you're hallucinating in your living room. The characters range from psychedelic geometrical shapes to 3D smiley faces and multicolored lines that argue philosophy with self-righteous dots.
The comments on IMDB imply that some people watch this with their kids. I suppose it would be interesting. The child would either emerge as a young quantum physicist or a burned-out barely-conscious shell that needs to be fed and changed regularly.
Definitely worth checking out.
