... the "grow fish" digression commenced. Why Miike felt it necessary to fully describe this arcane bit of Japanese mythos (with detailed subtitles and cartoon animation) is -- like most of Miike -- beyond me. But what disturbed me most was that no one else in attendance seemed to even notice this trippy little bit. As punishment, you must look it up on the web and explain it to the rest of us.
All three movies have merged for me at this point, but I do know that there were really neat hats, really neat eyeglasses, and lots of circus breasts doing all kinds of dangerous stunts without a fishnet. Another great scene had these two guys arguing about the concept of Buddhist hell. In the middle of this, a dog (named Yatterman) kissed this woman. I mean, a big long smooch that had me reaching for a bone.
There was also a pink octopus with a human head riding a magic carcass, which reminded me of the asymmetry of Yukio Mishima's face while also...
