NTTG 2026
A day of mowing. And bat finding. Turns out my bat house has bats in it. Very excited.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

That was your bat house you posted? That's cool. We tried a bat house in Fremont but apparently there are no bats there, at least none that wanted to live in our house.

Got through Kung Fu today. It's World Tai Chi Qigong Day and I totally messed up my Tai Chi practice, but my Qigong was solid. I just got done sorting my mom's mail, something that was grossly overdue (only one bill that's late). Now I'm working for KFM all weekend. Much to do there. I was toying with going to China Cats or a Baroque music recital tonight but I don't think I'll have the juice for either. Too much work to clear off the ol' desk here.

That is my bat house. It hangs on the undead shed. I didn't think there were any bats in mine other until I saw the big pile of bat poop below it. I did spritz the bat house with bat pheremones to attract them.

Such a nasty euphemism. I need to scrub my mind's eye retinas with bleach now.

Good on you though. Bats are cool. And that was a lot of bats. Bruce Wayne would be proud.

Cover story edited. KFM piece edited. Column 1 done (tough because it was my FF2tFS column and I had to project the whole summer of martial arts movies - there are many - because this issue won't be out until after summer). Column 2 almost done (got all the components - just gotta make it flow). That's today's task.

One meeting down, one to go. The bossmang had some personal tragedy with one of his close friends who lost his whole family and is now staying with him. He was understandably shaken which made meeting #1 awkward. Meeting #2 is the longassbossmang meeting and we'll see how that goes.

Tonight we're having an impromptu gathering of Cruz JMedders at Chocolat and then the Red Room. One responder moved to the area for Nor Cal last December to be with a ER Doc (they hooked up at Northern Nights) and we've been trying to get together with them ever since. Looking forward to that.

There was supposed to be a meeting today but we missed. No big. Off to visit mom but I’m not sure if I’ll stay in svale. They’re supposed to be painting today and I don’t care to suck fumes all night.

Do you like your painters? Can you ask if they can remove wall paper as part of their service? I'm tired of fighting with it...

Dammit. The forum ate my last post.

Our painters are under our contractor. They took down the wallpaper (which was a stunning orange and gold foil, plus a weirdly racist mural) and painted, but their the same crew of hombres that is redoing our kitchen and bath (the tile is done - yay!) I don't know if they'd do just a wallpaper strip & paint but I can ask.

The fumes aren't too bad so I'm staying here for the night. Stacy and a cleaner come by first thing in the morning.

Touched base with the contractor. Headed home for an Immortal meeting (not mandatory) then work. Yoga tonight.

Climbing ladders. Masking windows. Spreading stain. Hurting my back. The usual.

With all those naughty euphemisms, no wonder you hurt your back.

Two telemeets, work, iai today.

More ladders. More stains. More painting blind. Might move some dirt later

Ugh. No sleep-in today, building inspection. Building is old, so the inspection is meandering. Currently underground, according to Landlord Nancy (AKA: The Best Damn Landlord in Frisco) trying to answer the question of “What the hell?!”. The house was built in the 1880’s and has seen it’s share of…helpful builders.

AFter breakfast, off to unplanned day at the shop, the teaching only *one* class afterwards (too many kids off to Hell-A for a tournament). It will be weird to finish work at Normal People Time. Go get a beer, I guess, and wait for H to return from campus.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

I have no idea what that means.

Today I have an interview with a new author for YMAA. Then I must finish the KF horoscopes which I thought were overdue today because it's May 1, but I forgot it's the fengshui calendar so the month flips at May 5 (cinco de mayo). Our fengshui guy couldn't give us the whole quarter so it's just a one month update, so that should be easy. Then off to Dabin at the Frost, an RM gig. I've been eager to get back into the Frost. What's Dabin? I dunno, some sort of EDM thing, a mini-fest because it starts at 4 and goes to 10 (Frost shows shut down early). Looking forward to slipping into my RM jacket today again. It's been a moment. I'm going with my all back RM uniform, rocking a T-shirt that's 20 years old.
