Mighty Don Lee plays a Korean adoptee raised in the USA who returns to Korea to compete as an arm wrestler and find his biological mom. It’s a dramedy, a Don Lee dramedy. There’s a bromance with his goofy hustler buddy who tries to get him a sponsor with the mob. There’s his sister and her two cutesy kids. There’s caricature mobsters and the ol’ toss the for a bag of cash trope. There’s translation error comedy. This is Don Lee lite, like In The Eternals. There’s not much fighting and Don just plows through any adversaries like a bulldozer. It’s sweet and Don actually delivers some dramatic range.

The amusing thing is that Don was an amateur arm wrestler and the year this film came out, he became president of the Morean armwrestling federation.

Not particularly D00M recommended. If you’re going to explore the world of Don Lee, there are better places to start.

Seen on hoopla.
