I’m in

1st 2 eps seen. The first shots of Morena aren’t flattering, kinda odd, as if maybe her makeup was wrong or she had some poor work done. But later her mascara is perfect, despite all her tribulations. The 1st ep introduces her complicated family and work place - the dynamics that will propel the show - some amusing characters although a bit overdone. The 2nd ep settles into what may be the season’s overarching plot. It’s set in some Nor Cal community called Edgewater, and the growers play a major part. She plays Mickey, who is up for sheriff. Her daughter is in recovery. Her pop is a past grower who’s done time and is going legit. Her ex is a lawyer.
It’s ok so far - a police procedural that did enough research to drop the slang ‘trimigrants.’ I’ll keep watching because Morena - it’s a good role for her.

This show just won me over with the introduction of a new character and a major plot twist. It's Amos from the Expanse - Wes Chatham - and he's got a juicy sexy role. And Morena is starting to flesh out the role well. Plus I like her dad. Enjoyable.

And suddenly, all the plot issues are resolved with no cliffhangers. Felt like a season finale. And Wes is written out after being totally heroic.

We shall see what next week brings.

E6 starts with a murder victim on the Eel. There’s also a stock shot of the ‘bridge of death’ where KB almost killed us trying to pass a truck with another truck coming the other direction - who does that on a bridge. There’s a ref to Bulgarian cartels displacing growers and that rings true so they did a little research. It’s filmed in Canada.
Morena is working quite well as Sheriff Mickey. The supporting cast is developing a chemistry, especially Mickey’s dad. Still favorable.

E7 was kinda cute for a case about a high school predator. The main characters are developing nice depth and Morena is irresistible in uniform. Still enjoying this show. The pot growing dad is getting a tad overplayed - he could use a little more emerald triangle chill. Morena mentions getting some joints as a tip from trimmigrants when she worked at a local eatery but I’m not sure that term is that old. Mickey was a teen mom, and her daughter is ready for college, so it’s probably just she of 2 decades ago. Maybe that’s when I first heard the slang. Not sure.

The show is digging deeper into pot growers as it’s a series of robberies of legal growers paying taxes (pot is still illegal federally so growers can’t keep their earnings in banks - it’s all cash which is a vulnerable point when paying taxes). There’s some cast shemistry, but it’s still all about Morena for me. It’s a good role for her.

E9 is the 1st of a 2-parter, prolly the season finale. Mickey & the precinct are raided by preppers. The one thing that doesn’t work for me is the soundtrack music. They use something with a cliche country twang, which doesn't quite fit with the emerald triangle. Should be reggae.
