Another film based on Investiture http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=7796
I suspect this was made for Chinese tv. It’s still opulent but set in the Tang when the dynasty is besieged by the Turks. There’s a cgi 9-tailed fox, a bit of magic, and a lot of crazy sword fights. Wire Fu but on a Devil May care level where the physics don’t even pretend to make sense as bodies fly about. In some ways, that’s impressive because you can tell the actors really flew some big distances on wires, skipping across lakes and rooftops. That’s kinda fun.
But I was confused about what was happening in the big picture. It was a quest for a magic pen, which was really a sword, from Jiang Ziyi. There were moments when the story just skipped over plot points and flew merrily along suspended from invisible wires.
I sorta liked it. But not D00M recommended, except perhaps for cf who might enjoy another tale related to Investiture.
