What? An xmas movie before Halloween? Yes, another clear sign that DM has fallen over the edge and is spiralling down out of control.
The Mother of Dragons, the Crazy Rich Asians mom and son, Prof. Trelawny (HP factor 1), plus the younger sister from Flesh and Blood as a bonus. in an xmas rom-com flick based on the music of George Michael. At first, it wasn't working for me. It was too forced. Clarke has a charisma but she was fighting the break awy from her GoT role too hard. Yeoh and Golding were playing basically the same characters. Thompson was nailing her Yugoslavic accent as an overbearing mom. But then, it came together. Clarke has a talent - she can sing and has decent comic timing. Michelle and Henry's characters got deeper. I was leaning towards the Mcguffin so when it happened, I realized I should've said it out loud and claimed it. In the end, we enjoyed it. It was sweet.
No sword fights. Not DOOM recommended unless your a hardcore Michelle Yeoh fan. None of you watched GoT so you'll just have to discover Emilia somewhere else.

Didn't Wham have two dudes? George and some other dude. Wiki that...
I worked George at SLA in the late 80s. I didn't work the Wham DoG. That was a cool DoG shirt tho. That was prior to my RM years...

I must amend my earlier review. This isn't an xmas romcom. It's like one of those eggs in Alien but instead of a chestburster, it lays a wicked earworm.
Warning - spoilers - this is the finale...

Paul Fieg directs from a script by Emma Thompson a Christmas story about a young woman, Kate, struggling to come to grips with life after heart transplant surgery. She is basically a drunken mess until a mysterious stranger comes into her life played by Henry Goulding.
It's not great. It's a redemption story but Kate, played by Emilia Clarke of Game of Thrones, is so unlikable that I didn't want to continue watching it. But you have to be down before you go up I guess.
It probably would have helped if I liked the songs of George Michael more or at all. The inspiration for the title comes from Michael's song "Last Christmas" but the whole soundtrack is littered with Wham!/George Michael tunes. And Kate even sings the song. It get's annoying.
Despite good reviews, I'm going to forget I saw this film starting immediately.

And just like that, the Last Christmas earworm is back. It's the xmas gift that keeps giving and giving and giving...
Thanks Greg. Thanks a lot.

George Michael didn't sell a bazillion records because his songs weren't catchy, right?

Right.
You're humming it now, right? In the back of your mind. In that little corner where the earworm and burrowed into your brain and made a nest.
Every time you see this thread, it's a trigger. It feeds the earworm.

Nope. The neighbor just brought over chocolate and cookies and my brain is buzzing!
Soon, I'll be heading to Fresno to pick up the cats from the Neutering. I'll wake you up, before I go-go.

Strangely enough, it's not the Wham version that buried so deep. It's the Mother of Dragons.
If you watched GoT, you'd understand.
