From the people who brought you What we do in the Shadows....I wonder how they are going to give this the CW imprimatur.

I missed the first couple of episodes of the show because I didn't realize it had started airing. They are up to Episode 6 but I was able to watch Ep03 through on demand.
It was funnier than I expected and I wasn't expecting much. The show is shot in the formula of COPS where they follow patrolman around as they go about their jobs. It's documentaryesque. But in this case, the police officers of the Wellington PD come across paranormal activity. In the case of Ep03, it's a house haunted by a party that ended forty years ago. The police officers treat the paranormal activity for the most part as if it's ordinary. They are frightened a few times but it's good scary. The effects are nice for a low budget show. Kind of recommended. I will watch more to see if it holds up.

Turns out you can watch the first season on HBO Max. I saw S01 Ep01 last night. In this episode, they have to track down a demon who is possessing the residents. It is the first episode so we also get the genesis of the Paranormal Division in the Wellington PD. Chief Makka has a secret room where he keeps all the files about paranormal activity. There is a discussion about how best to say Phenomenon. Mulder and Scully are namechecked. I do notice I spend a lot of time trying to decipher the New Zealand accent, despite the fact I've been trained by listening to Lorde.
Three seasons of the show have been filmed in NZ and we've only received the first season so far in the States.
