I'm not much of a fest-goer, but I'm seriously thinking about that Sunday 5/14 show:

Original Talking Heads member Jerry Harrison and noted touring member Adrian Belew bring their popular ‘Remain In Light’ concert on the road throughout the US this winter, in celebration of the band’s iconic 1980 record.

If I didn't know better, I'd say that the Remain In Light tour poster was done by KB

 followed by CAKE

CAKE’s adherence to their original guiding principles has only grown stronger. Originally formed as a somewhat antagonistic answer to grunge, CAKE’s democratic processes, defiant self-reliance, and lucid yet ever-inventive music has made them a nation-state unto themselves, with no obvious peers, belonging to no school.  In addition to writing, arranging, producing, and performing their own music, they have taught themselves to engineer their recording projects in their own solar-powered studio, which actually generates more power than is needed to run it, causing the building’s electrical meter to run in reverse. CAKE’s most recent album, Showroom of Compassion, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and was touted as “deadpan brilliance” by the New Yorker. The band is currently at work on their ninth album due for release during late 2022.

That was awesome. Hung the rail with 7’ on either side. RIM done as a big 12 piece funk band. So good.

Big kerfufflr on my break but I saw it all.

They stopped before Monique

By Monique, I meant Mojique (stupik spelchuk) as in Listening Wind. The last two tracks are heavy and two of my favs off the album. I'd see them again if it was conveniant.

Peter Gabriel did a good version of "Listening Wind" -

Also Angelique Kidjo covered that whole album, and I recommend it.

And I just found this reggae version by the Specials (Hannah Hu vocalist) - this one's for you DM

That was great. Hannah reminds me a bit of Chrissy Hynde. Did you ever hear The Pretenders' take on reggae? Loose Screw is my fav album of theirs.

Reminds me of Talking Dreads. I should check in with them again. I wonder if they've ever covered Listening Wind...
