Confess, Fletch (2022)
#1
I think it was Showtime that has this movie.

I love the Fletch series of books. I hated what Chevy Chase did in the film series. Too much mugging for my tastes.

But in Confess, Fletch, I think John Hamm as Fletch comes a lot closer to how the character was portrayed in the book. He is still funny and irreverent but he's not a clown. Granted it's been a dog's age since I read the books. The plot is pretty simple and knowing that the mysteries in the McDonald novels are twisty I knew pretty quickly what was going on. But it was still enjoyable to watch the mystery unfold. The supporting cast was fun and it was entertaining watching Fletch outwit the cops and the others.

And the ending was satisfying.

Never read it.

I can't remember what I thought of Chevy's take on it beyond that I kept wanting him for do a fall and say 'live from new york...' That and wasn't there a scene when the female lead answers the door in a towel and he deadpans 'can i borrow a towel?' That didn't strike me as funny but I tucked it away as a line I should drop if ever the circumstances arose...which it hasn't...
