See How They Run (2022)
#1
A murder happens during the celebration for the hundredth performance of the Agatha Christie Murder Mystery play 'The Mousetrap'

Set in the 1950s, Detective Stoppard, played by Sam Rockwell, sets out to find out who killed the movie director Leo Kopernick, played by Adrien Brody. Kopernick was tasked with turning The Mousetrap into a movie. Although he's never seen the play he knows how whodunnits are supposed to go. There is a lot of deconstructions of how whodunnits are supposed to go which I'm usually a big fan but here it was heavy handed. When Kopernick describes how he would end the play early on in the movie, I pretty much knew that was how the movie was going to end. They would do funny things like having the screenwriter say "I would never do a flashback. That's just lazy" and then immediately do a flashback. So, you can see what they were trying to do, they just did it in a ham fisted way. It's like explaining a joke to you and maybe if they explained it even better it would be funnier.

In the trailers there was really funny interaction between Constable Stalker, played by Saorise Ronan, and Inspector Stoppard where Stalker is overeager to arrest everyone but is always pulled back by Stoppard. Sadly, those are the only funny scenes in the movie. The rest of their interactions aren't as funny. He's a drunk and she's annoying.

One of the jokes that should have been funnier is the fact the play "The Mousetrap" is the longest running play in history at I believe 68 years. The play only shut down for Covid. But you kind of have to know that bit of information to get that joke.

So definitely recommended.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
