David Thewlis and Olivia Coleman play a married couple living in France who are at the end of their resources. Thewlis reaches out to an Aunt for a loan, despite the wishes of Coleman. Thewlis has to tell the Aunt why they need the money and why they are in France. Thewlis does, with the admonition the Aunt cannot tell the police.
Turns out their might be two bodies buried in the backyard in Thewlis's old home in Nottingham.
It's a weird little show. Both Susan and Christopher Edwards (Coleman and Thewlis) are a bit dim and hopelessly devoted to each other. So much so there seems to be something a bit off about them. The other half of the show is what is going on in Nottingham. The police investigation is really funny led by a really angry detective sergeant.
The acting is quite good. The story is really bizarre. They play with the conventions of cinema a lot which I appreciated. And at the end during the credits, they show the real news footage of the events you just witnessed.
The first episode just aired last week on HBO and I think the second is up tonight.
Recommend for our friends burying people in the backyard.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
