Beartown (2021)
#1
It's on HBO now, but this seems the place to put it.

Much like 30 coins, Beartown is also from HBO Europe. I think people are catching on to the Netflix model where they've come to the conclusion that other countries make TV shows as well.

Beartown is about a Swedish Hockey player who returns from playing in the NHL to his home town to coach the local team. The name of the town is Beartown. I only know it's Sweden is because I just googled it. It's never mentioned in any of the descriptions. I guess they want people not to think of it is a Scandinavian show, but the subtitles give it away.

Peter immediately decides he doesn't want to coach the senior team in town, he wants to coach the Junior team. Tension ensues. There is a lot mysteries lurking around the story as well. What happened to Peter's son who recently died. Why does Peter have so much tension with another member in town. And why does someone get shot (or not, it's left unclear) in the very first scene? It's all very dark and moody in that Scandinavian way.

I probably won't watch any more episodes. This show was really slow and very derivative. New coach upsetting the way things have always been done. Did they not see Hoosiers. I might give it one more episode to see if things pick up.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
