It's the return of Michael Haller from "The Lincoln Lawyer". Connelly's main breadwinner is Harry Bosch, a police detective in Los Angeles. For some reason, I've never got on the Bosch Bandwagon. Maybe it's because his first name is actually Heironymous. He's always angry and odds with the police force but manages to solve the case despite their interference.
But every so often Connelly, writes about some other characters. He's done it with journalist, Jack Macavoy and with Michael Haller a defense attorney who travels the streets of Los Angeles in a Lincoln Town Car.
I like Mike. This story begins with him being handed all the cases of a recently deceased lawyer, Vincent. Haller must figure out how to defend his client and figure out who killed Vincent. It's got plenty of twists and turns. Connelly is filling out his Boschverse by having both Bosch and Macavoy appear in the story. It's a good plane read.
