It’s ok. Drunken style superheroine on the Star Wars cantina planets. I think the early buzz pumped up my expectations too much. Milli was good in the role: her take is a long way from Melissa Benoist. She reminded me of a friend in rehab now. Eve was good. Jason was just what you’d expect for him as Lobo. My Dublin dinner date the Widow has a small role. I really wanted more Krypto, but you can see his arc in the trailers. 

It’s a tale of a sword maker’s daughter on the road of vengeance - i wanted to identify with it more. Why they need swords when there’s blasters and space ships is one of those intruding thoughts that’ll spoil if you dwell, and there were several of those.

I was entertained by the visuals and the action. There’s a nice one-er that’s full of quick digital stitches (heck maybe it was all cgi) and more cold arm fights than you’d expect during the space tech age. I’ve always thought you could explain swords in space by saying blaster blow holes in space ships in space. 

I was entertained although this is thoroughly predictable. 

IMAX is spoiling me. This was great in IMAX but not so great that it requires it. It’s good on a big screen.

I’m going to go with not D00M recommending this because if you’re going to go out to the movies now, see The Furious.

Morning after thought

Supergirl passes the Bechdel Test with flying colors, cape and all. That's refreshing.

Seen it.

It was very James Gunn-y despite having a different director. Very reminiscent of Guardians of the Galaxy, at least in terms of style and vibe. The one shot that really points in that direction is one of the fights in one of the bars where you had a close-up on the young actress and all the fighting happened in the background.

I don't think there was great flow to the film. It all felt very choppy. Scenes didn't move nicely from one to the other. Let's get to the spaceship. Let's go to the planet. I did like the idea of them being on the bad space bus. I liked the little guy co-driver. But again, the heavy hand of Gunn (I have a plan, sort of a plan)

It passed the time. Wasn't great. I think the fan boys do need to tamp down the hate for female super heroes.

Almost every Lobo bit was in the trailer.

We need that live-action Krypto movie. I'd watch the hell out of that.
