Some maga Karen dropped a dime on one of the members of Katseye. Katseye is K-pop but from LA.

Wow. The show started and the packed hallway cleared out completely. The fans are going wild inside.

The merch line finally went down. Tara is making a run for one of her good friends who is a massive fan. Her bf died tragically (she’s Tara’s age, a film school graduate) and she’s deep into K-pop. This was her bf’s fav band. 
There’s a ton of crazy merch. The light wands (specific to each K-pop group) are cool. There’s a light blue hoody - one color print - selling for $100. There’s a rainbow SF shirt for $80 that’s cool because it’s SF. There’s a lot of fans with Lakers Sseraphim jerseys because they just played there - they must be following the tour.

Tara got her friend a $50 t-shirt. It’s a cool one tho. Nicer than the hoody or sweatshirt. She’ll give it to her as a graduation present.

The hallway is empty. I can hear the show but muffled. With the reduced staff I might not catch a break but I’m sending Tara in the check it out.

Tara caught most all of her fav songs. Le Sseraphim goes hard - intense complicated dancing while singing, sometimes without a break between songs. I caught a few songs - would’ve liked to catch more but staff was so small that I was bound to the table and the way the seats were curtained off, we had to go to the second floor to peek. Good night tho. And we got out of the parking lot amazingly quickly once we got in the car (they’re was a line for the ticket but we were quick because we had a voucher). 

A fun night. I wouldn’t have paid hundreds of dollars for the experience but thoroughly enjoyed what I saw for volunteering for the show. Plus we got a good amount of father daughter time which is priceless.

Home now. Winding down. Sleep soon.

And out of touch with what's globally popular... 

K-pop is another example of how South Korea has mastered soft power. Between that, K-dramas & K-cinema, they've done what China has aspired to for years now, dominating Netflix, capturing international film awards and holding some of the biggest concert tours in the game right now. 

Here's a taste: 


Le Sseraphim is an anagram for I'm fearless. They were originally 6, in line with the six wings of a seraphim, but one member was ejected/left because of bullying. 

On Friday, they played Kia Forum, a 17K house. BGC only holds 8500 - the more intimate setting drove the ticket prices way up.

Tara said it was her third fav K-pop group after BlackPink & Stray Kids. I wouldn't rank them as high with my favs, but they're definitely in the top ten (meaning I only know about 10 K-pop groups - I luv K-pop, but I'd be hard pressed to name all the members of any K-pop band except BlackPink).
