Baby Assassins
#1
Two teenage girls lead double lives as assassins. They keep their cover working part time jobs. They are completely remorseless when they murder.

There’s a simplistic quality to this. Almost no soundtrack makes it raw. It’s more about the relationship between the two girls as they adopt slacker attitudes towards life.

The choreo is rough. It’s crude but tells its tale well. Some long complex scenes, technically solid.

For some reason, this didn’t work for me. It just felt flat and the characters weren’t engaging enough. It has a black sense of humor but it was too droll for me. I almost bailed on it but was glad to see the finale fight.

Not D00M recommended.

I decided to check out BA2 of this franchise (3 films and a tv series) despite not liking part 1 that much. I’m trying to watch more Japanese cinema lately to tune into the language better.

2 was better but I get what I dislike. I dislike the main characters. They’re slackers who are obsessed with food, irresponsible and sociopathic but not sociopaths in that cartoonishly evil way. They’re just emotionally detached and unrepentant. The scenes of them going on about some dessert food or whining about their situations are downright annoying.

But I did enjoy this one more. There’s a cameo from Atarashii Gakko! who totally won my fan devotion at SDCC a few years ago (they sing the theme song). There’s a furry fight that’s oddly funny. There’s a few moments thst made me giggle but I can’t remember what they were now. The humor is better. The action is better too. The final fight is fresh. It starts with an absurd fire fight in a junkyard (how can they miss so much?) Then there’s the final mano-a-mano and that’s really good. I love fights were they actually throw feints. It’s tightly choreographed and both fighters looks sharp. Good stuff.

Still not D00M recommended. Might be a FF2tFS flick. I’ll D00Mendorse that.

Seen on Amazon prime - there’s two: one free and one for rent. I went with the free one.

I watched all 3 films and enjoyed them. It's all about the power of gal-pals and ultra-vi, and I'm diwn with both. The fights were super-tight. Honestly, you can't go wrong with #2 & #3.

2 was much better so I'll likely check out 3 when I get the chance.

I really liked how 2 ended. That was so cold blooded. That, and the final fist fight, won me over. The fire fight was nuts but I kept thinking 'how could you miss?'

3 was the best. I liked the story and the fights were excellent, especially thst long scene wrestling cor the gun. It all came together for me and I finally had some empathy for the two gals. Added the other two to their crew made their relationship even better. This one I’ll D00M recommend and I don’t think you need to see the previous ones. It can stand alone.

I hope they make a 4th. They better get on thst before the gals get much farther out of their baby stage.

There’s a 12 ep TV show titled Baby Assassins Everyday! released in 2024 but I’ve yet to find that.
