The Keep (1983) my Michael Mann

Was always curious about this, but the critics were merciless in their condemnation.  Decided to check it out after Criterion said it is "now an object of growing critical and cult reputation."

Nope.  This is total and absolute junk.  Hard to find even a glimmer of good.  This has aged like a mushroom that was rotten to start with.

Now I feel bad for speaking ill of mushrooms.

I remember when this came out. It had a killer trailer, but it was one of those flicks that everything that was of any interest was in that trailer. I remember being excited to see it and being thoroughly let down. The few minutes of trailer built more suspense than the entire film. What a waste of a solid cast...



Looking back on that trailer now, it's not as suspenseful as I remember...
