Onward (2020)

Disney decided to release this new Pixar film onto Disney+ since no one was going to see it in theaters because of our friend Covid-19

But you have to ask yourself if anyone was going to see it in theaters anyway. It was released in March which isn't a great time for movie releases. It seems to be just after the dumping ground of February releases.

It was a struggle to see it on Disney+, though. I think the servers were overwhelmed because we couldn't get the film to load until Tuesday night. We tried every night since Friday.

But finally, it appeared on Tuesday. It wasn't worth the struggle. It's not very good. It's about a fairytale world that has gone through the industrial age and in the process lost their magic. (Which aligns nicely with a book I just read. Go see that review) Two brothers, though, get a magic staff and a spell to see their father one last time. They go on a quest once the spell goes awry to fix the spell. Yes, there is a ticking clock. Yes, there are complications. Yes, there is friction between brothers. There are a lot of echoes to Frozen in this story of brotherly filiality.

But it's not very funny. And the animation isn't all that great. The story is pretty meh. There is one funny bit with a dragon at the end.

There is a sword, but not much of a sword fight.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
