Star Trek!
A million Star Trek TV series and people still bitching there isn't a Star Trek movie, that most people will see when it comes out on Home Video.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

After Section 31, that's understandable.

Quote:What the Year 2026 Brings in the Star Trek Universe

Jan 8, 2026 at 7:37 AM

In 1966, when Star Trek first graced our TV screens, the writers of the space drama set hundreds of years in the future were free to construct a historical timeline that led to intergalactic travel and the United Federation of Planets that spawned Starfleet. They had no clue that the franchise would last into the 21st century. After all, TV itself wasn't much of a thing a mere 20 years earlier. So they explained away, and when Star Trekreturned in the 1980s and beyond, they stuck to the historical canon established by the original series, just filling in more details. And now we have eclipsed part of that constructed history already, making it into a fictional "alternative history."

In the Star Trek universe, 2026 was the year that World War III began. This 45-year war led to a loss of 30% of the human population, and the extinction of 600,000 plant and animal species. Yes, it was a nuclear war that wiped out many of earth's major cities. But it didn't just spring up suddenly. Before World War III, there was the Eugenics War and the Second American Civil War. Check out the details of Star Trek's World War III at Memory Alpha plus some more details on the year 2026 at the not-totally canonical Memory Beta

2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the original Star Trek, as well as the debut of the franchise’s latest TV series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. To mark both milestones, Paramount+ is hosting a week-long, citywide celebration in San Francisco, which, as both longtime Star Trek fans and new Starfleet Academyviewers know, is the fabled home of Starfleet.

Local institutions and businesses are joining the event, dubbed Go Boldly SF, which will run from Thursday, Feb. 12 to Thursday, Feb. 19. Select activations will continue through Sunday, March 29.

Among the highlights: The San Francisco Public Library will offer a Star Trek-themed library card (like you see in the picture above!) at each of its 28 public libraries and four bookmobiles during the promo week; Blue & Gold Fleet Cruisewill offer a total of 12 Star Trek-themed cruises around San Francisco Bay on weekends from Saturday, Feb. 14 through Sunday, March 22; and, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema New Mission movie theatre will offer select screenings of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (costarring no less than the City by the Bay) from Friday, Feb. 13 to Sunday, Feb. 22.

Other local businesses are participating in this event, too. See below for a list of merchants who’ll be adding various Star Trek touches to their stores. (Please note participants are subject to change):

Retailers, bookstores, and entertainment
Food and drink
Fitness and wellness
The fun doesn’t end there. A handful of retailers along San Francisco’s Pier 39 will offer a free Starfleet Academy bag and pin (from Feb. 12-19, while supplies last) to customers who spend a minimum of $15 per person.

Participating Pier 39 retailers can be identified with a Vulcan salute sticker – something like, you know: ? –  affixed on their front door or window. Just say the phrase, “Live long and prosper,” to obtain your swag at the following Pier 39 retailers:
  • KWAK
  • LOLA
  • Under the Golden Gate
  • The Cable Car Store
  • Shirtique/Krazy Kaps
  • Expedition
  • Fairies and Fables
  • Aleenk
  • The Crystal Shop
  • Enlightenment
  • The Spice & Tea Exchange
  • California Welcome Center
  • Sock Market

For more details, head to PIER 39’s Star Trek page

For the latest news and info on Go Boldly SF, please follow @StarTrek on Instagram.

Remember, just as San Francisco is the home of Starfleet, Paramount+ is the home of Star Trek. Check out the Star Trek Collection to stream Star Trek shows and movies, including Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, new episodes launching weekly on Thursdays, through the Season 1 finale, set for March 12, 2026. Boldly go!

DOORS:6:15 PM
AGES:All Ages

Presented by The Humanities Institute. The bar and café will be open. Please click the 'Café Kuumbwa' button above for more information.

What do we need to live a fulfilling life? This essential question of the humanities feels especially pressing now, on the precipice of profound changes to our planet, our bodies, and our sense of human exceptionality. Join us for a conversation — and a music-and-drama masterclass — about speculative fiction from the Star Trek world, the myth of Orpheus, and what the operatic form can teach us about intelligence, humanity, and the good life.[/url]
Those attending the Questions That Matter event may be interested in the “
The Trial of Spock — An Opera Workshop” on March 8th. This workshop is a rare opportunity for Trekkies and opera lovers to attend a recording of five scenes of an opera-in-progress: the Trial of Spock, with members of the San Francisco and San Jose Opera companies accompanied by San Francisco’s Del Sol Quartet.

Questions That Matter is a public humanities series developed by The Humanities Institute and the community of Santa Cruz. It brings together, in conversation, two or more UC Santa Cruz scholars with community residents and students to explore questions that matter to all of us.
