I won't go into the tangled web of naming for the Halloween movies, but I think this might the third or fourth of that name.
Suffice it to say, this is the straight up sequel to Halloween(1978). Basically Laurie Strode has been prepping for 40 plus years in the off chance Michael Meyers escapes from the mental institution. Since they managed to keep him incarcerated, it's a very short film about the interpersonal relationship between Laurie and her daughter and her granddaughter. Who am I kidding, you know what is going to happen the second the bus pulls up to the hospital for the transfer.
The original Halloween was a seminal event in my young life. I have never been more scared at a movie. It didn't help I had to go deliver newspapers in the dark the very next morning down some very creepy shadow filled driveways. I saw this with my sister and Scapino.
The new Halloween just comes across as tedious. First you're waiting for the escape. Then you are waiting for the first killing. Then you wait for the meet up between Michael and Laurie.. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. I think there might have been one good scare in the movie. There was one sort of good twist.
The film makers did do a lot of homages to the original film. Although why you would want a miniature doll house that looks like the original murder house is beyond me. The ending is kind of dumb. Laurie has built this fortress/killing field to protect herself with giant lights illuminating the area around her house. And yet, she still has to hunt for Michael in the dark inside the house.
Tedious.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
