My Life as a Zucchini (2016)
#1
An Oscar nominee for animation. I luv stop motion. This is short, barely more than an hour, and has an endearing style. It’s a depressing tale of an orphanage, with a heartfelt portrayal of innocence being dealt bad cards through no fault of their own. Not really the kids film it propounds to be, but positive messages prevail in the end. I was amused by the comment in the schoolyard fight ‘Use your Kung Fu’ - wonder if that’s in the original as this is translated.
