Steven Jobs by Walter Isaacson
#1
Wow. Steven Jobs was a dick. I think some of the reviews I read said that Isaacson whitewashed Jobs and was more of a cheerleader for him. I didn't see that at all. He comes across as a bullying, perfectionist Vegan.

It was a really well done book. It gave you backstory to all the stories you've ever heard about the guy. From the Wozniak days right up until the launch of iCloud. It's a doorstopper of a book and it's all quite interesting. Or it is if you bought the original Mac back in 1984 and still have a Mac Plus in your closet.

I liked reading about all the Cupertino locals. I don't think he ever mentioned Bubb Rd though which was disappointing. He wrote about all Silicon Valley Players from the guy who headed Intel to Ellison who headed Oracle.

Jobs led a very interesting life. He was a dick which according to the argument posed in the book was what made him great. Yeah . . . .
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

A friend of mine wrote the review on this for the SF Chron (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... 1LOEJA.DTL). Dan is a Zen priest and a contributing editor for Tricycle (an NY Buddhist magazine). We've gone camping together and I helped him build his hot tub.

That being said, I'm not planning to read this.
