SF Breastfest 2010
#1
I don't know what category to put this in, so it's going under Travels.

I was going to go to see Primus at the Great American Music Hall on Sunday, but I found out that it had sold out. The tickets for the show had only been on sale for a week! Mad

A friend asked me if I wanted to go to Breastfest. I had to look it up online:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.thebreastfest.org/">http://www.thebreastfest.org/</a><!-- m -->

...to figure out what it was. :drinkers: Since the Primus show was out, I had a little cash and nothing planned for the weekend. He's also lined up a designated driver, so beer for boobs actually sounded like a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

We got to the city around 12:30-ish. Found parking in Fort Mason. Paid the $50 entrance fee (it's for a good cause). Picked up our commemorative tasting glasses and started hitting up the 25 micro-brews. It was a beer buffet. There was also free food: cheeses, burgers, sausages, sandwiches, breads, and more... :tonqe:

My friend is a home brewer, so he had a few particular stops he wanted to make and we decided we'd better hit them first while the taste buds were still functional. Seabright Brewery in Santa Cruz ran a competition recently for homebrewers to match their "Blur" IPA. He entered and hadn't heard anything, so we stopped by to talk to the brewer. Apparently, his was the best beer in the competition, but because it didn't match their Blur, it only got an Honorable Mention. In any case my friend was stoked. He says it's the best beer he's brewed. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, so I can't say one way or the other...

There were two bands playing 80's covers. Confusedupz: The second was a (too) serious hair band. They mostly were part of the background noise. Every booth had a bucket to dump out your glass before the next pour. There were staff going booth to booth collecting the buckets into larger buckets. Seemed a little odd, but after a few beers I didn't notice anymore. We had quite a few samples from a variety of breweries. We had stouts, seasonals, IPAs, lagers. It took a while, but we finally found North Coast. Great stuff! Also collected coasters and other goodies.

They had a number of porta-potties and the lines were reasonable. The weather was fantastic. It ended around 4pm. We got our last samples, then headed back to the car to get chauffeured home. :partyman:

If they do this next year, I propose a DOOM outing.

PS: I think that's the most smileys I've used in one post to date.
