Funny moment after the Marleys

We were walking to the parking lot and my nurse friend from yoga had not put together that Tara was my daughter (she knows Stacy too, of course). But just before that, we were chatting and somehow it came up that I made my living as a sword maker for a spell. My nurse friend was astonished and then Tara chimed in nonchalantly ‘so did I.’ My friend was all WTH? And that’s when we realized she didn’t know that we were related.

As y’all might remember, I aspired to be a doctor. My original plan was to get a Phd in psych and become a professor. I got into a doctorate program in psych with a solid scholarship and quickly discovered thst I hated academia and wasn’t a scientist. Consequently I frittered away my scholarship and followed the Dead, then dropped out of the program when my scholarship ended.

Now Tara is a Juris Doctor. Law is weird though because while she can technically call herself a lawyer, she has to pass the bar to practice and be called an attorney. While there was much celebration at St Ignatius today, looking over every graduate is the bar. Tara’s bar prep has already started. It’s all day every day for 10 weeks, wifh a half day break on Sunday to do laundry and get groceries. Brutal. Thankfully she has some good friends supporting her along with us.

We couldn’t be prouder. She graduated Cum Laude and had multiple stoles and cords from her achievements over the last three years. And we’re confident she can crush the bar if she can keep up her momentum.
