Stray Kids @ Oracle - Drunk Monk - 05-29-2025 I have now been present at a stadium K-pop show and I shall never be the same. My tinnitus is ringing at 11, not from the monstrous bass drops or pyro blasts, but from the shrill screams of young fangirls - I wish that could be weaponized. This was Tara’s first experience of teen girl fan shrill and she was in awe of its might. More to come later. Sleep now… RE: Stray Kids @ Oracle - Drunk Monk - 05-29-2025 I've joined the Stays. I'm still more of a Blink, but SKZ delivered an incredible show. Topline production values. Sold out the Oracle completely. There's 8 of them and they adopt a strategy akin to Wu-Tang Clan, alternating leading so each member need only deliver one 8th of a performance. It emboldens them to really put out. And they're all adorbs - truly beautiful guys, mostly in that asexual/hypersexual Asian way with faces that would be as gorgeous on a male or a female (like me when I was young...not). K-pop is not what most people think. Sure, it's cheesy pop, but it's also EDM and rap. I argue that the hardest rappers are coming out of K-pop now. Something about Korean makes for fast rapping. Talk about cultural appropriation. And the bass drops - SKZ was thunderous - luv that. RE: Stray Kids @ Oracle - Drunk Monk - 06-03-2025 RE: Stray Kids @ Oracle - Drunk Monk - 01-25-2026 |
