RIP Corey Yuen - Drunk Monk - 08-13-2024
Apparently he passed in 2022 of Covid, but the family kept it quiet. Jackie (his martial brother - another Yuen) leaked it in a recent retrospective.
Corey directed some of the goofiest action sequences and fights, almost Looney Tune caricatures. Stephan Chow would parody it in Kung Fu Hustle. New Legend of Shaolin was the epitome of Corey's mad vision with its medieval chrome tank, its physics defying cliff dive save, and its prepubescent butt sniffing.
