Gentleman in Moscow - thatguy - 04-21-2024

I thought someone had already posted about this, but I can't find it.

Ewan McGregor is a count in post revolutionary Russia. He returned from France in 1918 to make sure his grandmother got out, but stayed behind and in the opening episode is before a tribunal that condemns him to live out the rest of his life in the hotel where he currently resides.

Most revolutionaries aren't happy with the stay of his execution, but he wrote some poem that some of the high ups found inspirational, so he was saved (kinda, sorta).

But he lives out his days with a generally positive attitude in spite of losing everything.

He befriends a girl that lives in the same hotel and episode one builds their relationship while revealing his backstory.

A previous book review is here:

It's pretty good If you like period dramas.

I really like the opening credit scene.

We should probably have a thread for opening/closing credit scenes...

I think there are 4 episodes out now. Not sure how many there will be total.

I will probably watch more...
