Lean Mean Thirteen - Janet Evanovich - The Queen - 06-25-2007

Yeti: Admit it. You've already got it, don't you?!

Read it in an evening. Last evening, in fact. Very good.

Got it!!! - The Queen - 07-02-2007

Phew - was able to pick up a copy from the library today. Heading to the microwave to pop the popcorn and will be diving in shortly. :-)

Yep, it was good - The Queen - 07-03-2007

Reading Stephanie Plum books is like eating Entenmann's chocolate covered donuts. No nutritional value, you're fatter for having consumed it (at least I am -- I get SO hungry reading her stuff, and I just gotta nosh!) but gosh was it tasty while it lasted. :-) Well, at least I was noshing on 94% fat free popcorn, fresh fruit and fat free cheese rather than TastyCakes, peanut butter and macaroni. :-)

That is why I don't buy her in hardcover - too much money for too little substance. Really fun fluff, but fluff nonetheless.

Cory Doctorow is next up. Not sure I'll like him though...he's a Canadian. Border-hugging parasites! European-style socialism promoting northern people! Snowbacks! They look like you and me, but they're foreign...!

Garwood for me - The Queen - 07-04-2007

Is Corey any relation to E.L. or is it a pseuonymial homage?

I'm on to Julie Garwood. Trashy romance crime/murder. Don't know why I keep reading her - it's not funny, the sex isn't well written, it's the same formula story over and over and yet she keeps me entertained, kind of like early Nora Roberts. I guess I keep thinking she'll mature into something more one of these days.

It's all just keeping me busy until the library sends me the new Laurell Hamilton (The Harlequin).

Corey is no relation, just a Canadian rip-off of a fine AMERICAN author! God, i hate Canadians! All smug with their high-quality science-fiction TV shows and basking in their soon-to-happen Winter Olympics! Grrrrrrrrrr!

Finished Corey Doctorow. I'll stick with EL, i think. It was OK (Eastern Standard Tribe) but for near-future cyber-punk, I'll take Bruce Sterling, Neal Stephenson or The Gibson Himself.

Next up is Kim Harrison. Some vampire book. Looks fun.

You guys need to make a trip up here and hit Borderland Books (new and used Scifi, Fant, Horror). El Dingo needs to visit just because of their DVD collection (obscure Japanese and Mexican horror movies, plus many, many independent flicks) Everyone else needs to visit to pet Ripley, the hairlesss cat, and go get coffee at Ritual.

C'mon! You know you want to! It is only in the mid 70's up here! Nice and cool!

Hmmm... - cranefly - 07-04-2007

I'm starting to see what Yeti means...
