Lord of the Rings trilogy - thatguy - 12-27-2021

So, there's this place called Middle Earth...

I thought I had watched all 3 films. Shannon hadn't, so we binged them, one each night, for the past 3 nights. It's been 20 years since the first one came out, and I didn't remember the first half of it. I remembered most of The Two Towers, and none of The Return of the King.  I could remember what was going to happen from having read the books ages ago, although I did get confused here and there between some of the events in LoTR and The Hobbit. It stuck me that LoTR is really Aragorn's story, more than Frodo's.

It was a bit slow in places, but what an epic film to have brought to the screen. So many extras! So many sets! Fantasy was temporarily suspended when I noticed Bret from Flight of the Conchordes telling Arwen to make haste to the boats.

Quote:LOTR: Tale of the Middle Kingdom is a personal project that reimagines J.R.R. Tolkien’s world of Middle Earth in a Chinese setting. China is called 中国 (Zhōngguó) - meaning ‘‘The Middle Kingdom". Taking inspiration from the books, movies, ancient Chinese artefacts and paintings, this project is a love letter to my own Chinese heritage, seen through the lens of medieval fantasy and historical design.

Nice to see that "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" was included...

Is it weird that I have the Camel, and the Zeppelin albums on vinyl and the Nickel Creek CD?

Yes. Hippie.

RE: Lord of the Rings trilogy - King Bob - 07-27-2022

I've never seen that Camel album. I only knew "Rain Dance" and "I Can See Your House from Here."

I'd say most guys our age have that Zeppelin album.

I have that Zep album on vinyl and cd.

Glen Yarbrough nailed that Rankin Bass animated version. I was very fond of that, as well as the Return of the King animated version from RB

Tolkien character or antidepressant? - King Bob - 11-11-2023

This is a good, and difficult (for me anyway): Tolkien character or antidepressant?

Is this worth sharing? I think not...

But I do find it pretty amazing what one can do with editing these days...
