Amazon original movie with Selma Hayek and Owen Wilson. It begins with a disoriented Wilson in a busy call center not doing his job and getting fired. It’s as hard for the audience to piece together what is happening as it is for him. Stuff happens and he finds himself in the bar across the street from work where he meets Selma who is the Morpheus to his Keanu. It’s all an illusion...he goes down the rabbit hole with her, but there’s still a lot of explaining to do and she’s not really doing it.
It’s trying hard, but the sci-if future world is pretty weak. The movie has elements of The Matrix, The Fisher King, and Cloud Atlas. Mostly, I think they just wanted a reason to be able to shoot in whatever locale had the beautiful bay.
Bill Nye the Science guy makes an unnecessary cameo. The movie’s message is delivered a little heavy-handedly.
