The Shop Around the Corner (1940) - Drunk Monk - 10-23-2020

An old James Stewart movie. Stewart remains one of my favorite actors. While everyone else is performing in that stilted, project-your-voice-from-stage way, he always comes off so genuine. He's a salesman at a shop in Budapest who falls for his pen pal, who happens to be another salesperson at the shop. It's a cute absurd romcom. We laughed at the finale when Stacy called out the lines.
No sword fights. Has James ever done a swordfight? If so, I should see that. Recommended for DOOM Stewart fans.

Interestingly, Jimmy Stewart was quite the swashbuckler.  But he wasn't that Jimmy Stewart.  He had to change his name to something else to become an actor.
Stewart Granger.

Yeah, pointless trivia...

Are you going to watch "You got mail" next to be a completist?
