The Wife (2018) - Greg - 03-04-2019 Ah, Glen Close. Close plays the titular wife to the about to win the Nobel Prize for literature Jonathan Price. You can immediately tell there is something off about the relationship and the story goes along to tell just what is wrong. It's a slow burn film with it's casual reveals then never fully ignites. But the final reveal is quite devastating. I vaguely remembered what this film was supposed to be about so maybe the big reveal wasn't as explosive as it should have been. This is one of those adult films that was prevalent in the 70s but these stories are mostly show on TV. It was a good palate cleanser from fight scenes and super heroes and blood fountains that is my usual diet. Price does a good job as the blow hard Nobel Laureate. Christian Slater does his devious Christian Slater as the biographer trying to get an interview with Price and pry out the secrets of the Close-Price relationship. And to be clear, there was no cannibalism in this film. Unless you count souls. RE: The Wife (2018) - Drunk Monk - 03-04-2019 Pryce should play ED in the DOOM biopic. At least that's one of us cast. RE: The Wife (2018) - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 03-05-2019 ED: Locked. Who else for Doomers? |
