RIP Ricky Jay - Greg - 11-25-2018 The man who spawned a legion of card throwers. His specials were epic. And he also turned out to be a consummate actor in David Mamet films. RE: RIP Ricky Jay - Drunk Monk - 11-25-2018 His book Cards as Weapons escaped my martial arts library and is the MOST SOUGHT AFTER book remaining for me of the 'out of print' collection. I stupidly lost of my copy years ago. I studied some of those techniques. They were very practical. And that book - maybe I still have it buried in my collection but I went looking for it several times over the years without success. If you don't know him, I highly recommend the PBS American Masters Doc: Deceptive Practice. RE: RIP Ricky Jay - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 11-25-2018 This is a long and fascinating read. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1993/04/05/secrets-of-the-magus?utm_medium=social&utm_social-type=owned&utm_source=twitter&mbid=social_twitter&utm_brand=tny RE: RIP Ricky Jay - Drunk Monk - 11-25-2018 Look at what I found - Cards as Weapons online as a free PDF. Take a gander and you'll see why this is such a brilliant contribution to the field of martial arts. cards as weapons pdf I rank this even higher than Honor Blackman's Book of Self Defence. And I'm still hoping to find a hard copy to add to the collection. This and the Stevie Nicks Self Defense book are top of my out-of-print collectables list. And sure, I could probably just find either on the web somewhere, but that'd likely be too pricey, plus where's the sport in that? RE: RIP Ricky Jay - cranefly - 11-25-2018 Wow. Meant to just skim that pdf, ended up spending 15-20 minutes on it. Looks like a great read, and resource. Good luck finding the hardback.
