RIP Harlan Ellison - Greg - 06-28-2018 Well, this is sad. No matter what you think of him, you have to admit he was a great writer. He wrote some of my favorite short stories. I couldn't get enough of his television commentaries. But I did meet him at a convention. It was at the same time Gremlins came out. He hated Gremlins and warned us not to see it. He was there to talk about a screening of "The Demon with a Glass hand" which was an Outer Limits episode. I had the temerity to ask a stupid question of him. He called me stupid. In recent years, I have not read much of his stuff. But he was the bulwark of my late teens and early twenties RE: RIP Harlan Ellison - Drunk Monk - 06-28-2018 (06-28-2018, 01:21 PM)Greg Wrote: I had the temerity to ask a stupid question of him. He called me stupid. What was the question? This is indeed, more sad news. But it might be brightened by hearing your stupid question. Come on. I know you remember it. RE: RIP Harlan Ellison - Greg - 06-28-2018 The show was all set in this building. And I couldn't tell if it was the present day for the TV show or the future. So, I asked if it was the present. Are you dumb? As soon as I asked the questioned, I flashed on seeing the cars of the present time out the window. RE: RIP Harlan Ellison - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 06-28-2018 Seemed like his well ran dry and he took up suing people to make a living. Yup, I liked his early stuff, but he seemed like an asshole with a chip on both shoulders. Classic “Little Man” syndrome. |
