Zootopia - King Bob - 06-21-2016 My wife wanted to see this. I was skeptical that it would be good enough to spend pay per view money on. I was right. So wait and watch if for free if you can. It looked great but the story was mediocre. I imagine you know the outline - a bunny wants to be a cop, but cops are all big powerful animals. They work the standard themes about overcoming your past, following your dreams, ending with a message on prejudice and tolerance which thankfully wasn't too ham-fisted. I thought it was a little weird that the girl bunny wears skin tight clothes, but no one else does. It did make me want to live in a city where a sky tram is a form of mass transit. I would totally ride that to work. Not sure why. - Drunk Monk - 08-10-2016 It was cute but so predictable that I called the ending scene by scene about halfway through. Tara was like 'you sure you haven't seen this before?' Well, yeah...I had....but in different movies. Gina really looked like Gina even though she was a bunny. Tommy Chong was too self deprecating with all the flies in his dreads. Shakira was hot even as a weird gazelle. Good overall message tho, even if it was delivered like a ram in a freight train. RE: Zootopia - Greg - 08-11-2016 Guess what movie I saw on the plane. Very predictable yes, predictable - cranefly - 08-11-2016 Lady Cranefly and I saw this at the theater soon after it came out. A furry friend of ours was raving about it, coaxed us to go. He's seen it at least six times by now, has written many blog posts on it (what a great movie it is and its important messages and lessons). Yes, some good messages, and well-done animation. But the whole police procedural angle, with the new recruit given one last chance by the stodgy commissioner... I didn't tell our friend, but it was disappointing to encounter that familiar plot-line yet again. Perhaps on a par with the big bad military and climactic battle in Avatar. RE: Zootopia - King Bob - 08-25-2016 Now it makes sense: it's a furry thing. I was not the target audience. furries. again with the furries. - Drunk Monk - 08-25-2016 But if you were a furry, what animal would you be KB? A mastodon? I'd be an octopus. Oh wait. They aren't furry. Dammit.
RE: Zootopia - Greg - 01-10-2017 Saw this again with theQueen last night, since she hadn't seen it. It was much more enjoyable the 2nd time. Although, there was a ton exposition that could have been cut. I really like the job Jason Bateman did. And Idris Elba. RE: Zootopia - King Bob - 01-10-2017 I watched it for a second time recently because the wife fell asleep the first time, and I enjoyed it more the second time as well. Well, hell - cranefly - 01-10-2017 Well, hell. I see a pattern growing here. It's more enjoyable on second viewing. I suppose I'll have to revisit it. But it'll just have to wait, because my platypus costume is currently at the dry-cleaners, and they have a backlog (mostly of my other costumes). RE: Zootopia - King Bob - 03-03-2020 There's an article in Rolling Stone about furries, and they call this the "Citizen Kane of furry fandom" and also note that at the convention there's a lot of pornographic art of Jason Bateman's character. RE: Zootopia - Drunk Monk - 03-03-2020 You seem strangely obsessed with this film, KB. Perhaps you're a closet furry? That would be okay. Only poofters are banned in the DOOM charter and we've already made allowences for...well, you know. RE: Zootopia - King Bob - 03-03-2020 Well I had to read that article. And I remembered that CF mentioned his furry friend who loved it, so I thought it needed mentioning. RE: Zootopia - Drunk Monk - 03-03-2020 I'm guessing cf's furry friend is one of my furry friends, one of our Kung Fu sibs. There was a contingent of furrys at Lam Kwoon. We were diverse that way... |
