Europa Report (2013) - Drunk Monk - 09-24-2015 More Daniel Wu investigation. This one is a sci-fi with an international cast but the only actors I knew were Daniel and Michael Nyqvist. A crew embarks on the first mission to Europa (a moon of Jupiter but all of you here probably know that already) in search of life. It's part 2001 (how lonely space is, how gravity-less, how existential), part Blair With Project (found footage is the spaceship logs), and part Alien (but only the very last part). No swordfights, hallucinations, or Bollywood numbers, but still enjoyable. The tech looked okay. There was a lot of personal sacrifice with each crew member, a lot of feeling minuscule in the vastness of space just before giving up the ghost. It showed outer space well. Re: Europa Report (2013) - lady_cranefly - 09-25-2015 You didn't know Sharlto Copley? I really liked it. Nope. Is that a man or woman? - Drunk Monk - 09-26-2015 I know I could IMDb it but I'm not going to. Yea, it was alright as a scifi flick. Sort of a throwback in some ways but that was enjoyable. Re: Europa Report (2013) - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 09-26-2015 It was typical Euro-SciFi: Almost no violence, lots of talking, more non-violence, more talking, some pointless death, angst, decided lack of gunfights or explosions, no Bruce Willis AT ALL, and a little tiny bit of Alien. Whatever. |
