Three Crowns of the Sailor (French 1983) by Raoul Ruiz - cranefly - 01-30-2015

The DVD packaging swayed me to check this out of the library, even though it’s French. This “mind-bending journey” is “inventively rendered” by “internationally acclaimed filmmaker Raoul Ruiz.”

Alas, it proves to be the poster child of bad French cinema. There’s an overwrought blatherfest of voice-over narration throughout, with overlong scenes and very little action. Yet with the exception of some judicial fast-forwarding, I watched it all. Why would I do a damned fool thing like that? Because of the name that appeared on the screen seconds into the movie: Lisa Lyon.

The Lisa Lyon? I just had to find out.

Yes, it is the Lisa Lyon, who plays a burlesque dancer who strips to the buff.

For those who might not know who Lisa Lyon is, she’s a noted political activist of the ‘70s and ‘80s who supported a very famous politician.

Okay, so she’s a world-class women’s bodybuilder back before the ravages of steroids. Here’s a couple more photos.

Anyway, though praised by some critics, this movie is crap. Don’t waste your time, unless you just want to gander Lisa Lyon's gams.
