Santa's Village - El Dingo - 02-25-2006

May as well keep the nostalgia flowing.

Santa's Village

Busch Gardens - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 02-25-2006

I was mightily ticked off when I relocated to LA and learned that Busch Gardens was no more. I will not rest until I find that website.

All I remember... - Drunk Monk - 02-27-2006

... I remember riding on this weird track car where you pedalled around on this monorail in a heavy metal car. The track didn't go anywhere, just around in a big oval, and there weren't decorations or anything. I took the turn too fast and my car fell off the track. I remember the ride operator picking up the car, with me still strapped in, and placing it back on the track. It all seemed absurd to me at the time. It still does.

I also remember the dinosaurs on the other side. I remember my dad telling me 'we're going to see dinosaurs today' as this weird joke and then my amazement when he pointed them out in the forest. Oh wait. That was Cole's dad. And I was Cole. That's Cole's memory, not mine. Ack! Get me out of Cole's head. Get me out! It's dark and scary in here. And it smells like an SF alley. Help!!!

- El Dingo - 02-28-2006

That was 'The Lost World'. I went searching for info on that after finding the Santa's Village stuff. Aside from references to when the property was bought and sold there was nothing.

No pictures, no literature, no stories.

It truly was a 'Lost World'

Apparently they had some 'sculpted' trees that now live in Bonfante Gardens.

Of course.... - Haggis Killer - 03-01-2006

...you mean the Circus trees:

I saw these before they were moved to Bonfante - years ago - but I don't remember seeing any dinosaurs. '76? '77?

Are you mad! - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 03-01-2006

I saw the wierd trees and I saw the Dinosaurs. They might have been gone by '76. I know I begged the folks every time we went to Santa Cruz to stop in Scott's Valley to see them. That right were Redwood Glen was located, too. Ah, sixth grade camp . . .
