Complicated Candy from Japan - El Dingo - 02-08-2011 Japanese kids have way more patience than I did. Two Questions, completely unrelated - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 02-08-2011 1. Where does the detonator go? 2. Wouldn't it be faster to just buy real sushi? I would totally buy this. remember those damn japanese robot models? - Drunk Monk - 02-09-2011 those took a lot of patience too. Re: Complicated Candy from Japan - El Dingo - 02-09-2011 Apparently it's not candy, just a toy. All that work and no payoff. I wonder if they would even sell something in the U.S. that looked exactly like food but deadlier than rat poison. Wait - they do, I forgot about airplane meals. Wait - they do, I forgot about airplane meals. You've been on an airplane recently where they FED you??? What airline??? just a toy?! - Drunk Monk - 02-09-2011 that's got to be the stupidest toy ever. where do we get these? JAPANESE TOYS RULE!!! Re: Complicated Candy from Japan - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 02-09-2011 If only we knew someone that had contacts in Asia . . . . . I've got nothing in Japan - Drunk Monk - 02-09-2011 Might be able to find it at Daiso or Mitsuwa. Maybe Japantown. Maybe they're illegal here because Americans are afraid kids will eat it and it's made of rat poison. Remember that issue we had with the ant-killing chalk? Anyway, next time I'm in a Japanese market, I'll keep an eye out for it. There's a Daiso at our mall, just down the street. I hit up Japantown before Fillmore shows, but nothing is calling me to the 'Mo right now. I'm long overdue for a visit there. The other thing is that if I saw it, I might not know what it is. I mean it just looks like some sort of sushi kit from the packaging and I don't read Japanese. Anyway, for you guys, I'll look about. Later. When I have time to kill. which is just about never. It's right down the street. RE: Complicated Candy from Japan - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-06-2025 Ooooooo! This could be tasty! RE: Complicated Candy from Japan - Drunk Monk - 11-25-2025 So I'm in Tokyo Central tonight getting my fix of Japanese drinks & snacks and the muzak is all this weird Japanese reggae. I'm enjoying it and it prompts me to treat myself to a sixer of Ramune (melon) and an unagi churashi that was marked down 20% because it's about to go bad. Then, Jesus, a latino checking me out, say "I remember you. You're the guy with the voice like Pedro Pascal." I do remember a checkout guy saying that to me a few months back. Maybe it was his go-to pick up line because he's got the gayyellow fever. Wouldn't be the first time, but he didn't trigger my gayday at all. True, living out of SF these last two decades has made my gaydar rusty. I'm thinking of poaching this thread for my Weird Asian Market experiences. I go to them once or twice a month, alternating between the Japanese & Chinese ones (I can't sort the Korean ones - there's a huge one on the El Camino in svale now and I was totally lost in there). |
