Legend of the Guardians - Drunk Monk - 09-27-2010 Imagine if Star Wars was done in 3D. Cool huh? Now imagine it done in 3D with owls. Not as cool. This is an unremarkable film overall - it was hard to tell one owl from the next, and the fight scenes were really muddled. Owl City, that synth pop band, did the soundtrack, and the music didn't fit with the rest of the film at all, but was still amusing because of the name Owl City. There was one great scene where the owl hero (luke) was learning to use his gizzard (the force) by following his guardian (jedi) master master into this storm - that was amazing 3d but it's hard to justify the price of 3d admission just for a few minutes of cool scene. Also many of the veteran owls lost an eye to past wars. One-eyed owls can't hunt because you need two eyes to see depth (kind of like 3D). So that didn't work for me either. Re: Legend of the Guardians - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 09-27-2010 Isn't Tara old enough to go to the movies by herself yet? It was that or Alpha and Omega - Drunk Monk - 09-27-2010 About half way through I was thinking, I bet Alpha and Omega would have been funnier...
Re: Legend of the Guardians - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 09-27-2010 AS I typed that response I thought for sure you were going to say you hope she's never too old to go to the movies with her Dad. But you're right, Alpha and Omega probably was funnier. the trailer for alpha & omega... - Drunk Monk - 09-27-2010 ...features a head-on collision with a moose ass. that struck me as something i didn't really want to see in 3D. FWIW, T & I watched Jackie Chan's First Strike on DVD last Saturday. She loved it, especially when they had to suck their bloody thumbs in the shark tank fight finale. woah - stars wars in 3d in 2011 - Drunk Monk - 10-01-2010 Dayum, it's like DOOM prophecy. If only we could parlay this into something useful like stock picks, lotto numbers or even just horse races... Quote:'Star Wars' saga set for 3D release starting 2012http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i677c428c4dc16c2c7592835d50e86a3a Re: Legend of the Guardians - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-01-2010 Not so much. Lucas has been talking about 3d Star Wars for years. I keep wondering about the big fuss over this announcement. As long as he can get money out of our pockets, he will. I'd rather watch Endhiran at this point. I totally forgot to mention the 3D Roadrunner short - Drunk Monk - 10-01-2010 Like Pixar, WB is putting out these 3D Looney Tunes shorts to precede their 3D kids films now. For LorG it was a new Roadrunner/Wile E. Coyote short. The CGI is pretty cool in that Wile E.'s fur is done in great detail, but I must say, the 3D potential was totally missed. I mean really - given all the ACME crap that flies about in absurd Looney Tune physics in a Roadrunner/Wile E. Coyote cartoon, the 3D should have been out of the ballpark good. It was mediocre at best. It was rather disappointing too. WB has to totally step up it's game if they want to compete with shorts like that. |
