Ninja Academy shows Fri & Sat (incl a free show!) - thatguy - 05-06-2008 http://www.myspace.com/ninjaacademy I'm thinking of going to the Gilman show. A friend recommended Judgement Day (Cello metal) Friday, May 9 - 10:00ish? $7 (flyer http://www.ninjaacademy.com/Pics/Flyers/2008.05.09_GilmanSt.jpg) 924 Gilman St. Berkeley, CA 94701 all ages Playing with: -Judgement Day (CD release party) http://www.myspace.com/stringmetal Saturday, May 10 - 1:00pm free Virgin Megastore - In-store performance 2 Stockton St. San Francisco, CA 94108 415.397.4525 Saturday, May 10 - 9:30pm $6 (flyer) http://www.ninjaacademy.com/Pics/Flyers/2008.05.10_Hemlock.jpg Hemlock Tavern 1131 Polk St. San Francisco, CA 94109 21+ Playing with: -We Be The Echo http://www.myspace.com/webetheecho --tg That's almost worth an e-zine article - Drunk Monk - 05-07-2008 The other band I was almost interested in was Kung Fu Vampire. I was toying with the idea of running a piece on our e-zine, partly for the crossover, partly just to get backstage and nosh on the snacks with the band. Truth be told, after RZA, well, that's a hard act to top in terms of crossover. RE: NInja Academy - thatguy - 05-07-2008 If I haven't already raved about them, NA is a two piece (drums and bass) band. They are all instrumental. The bass player is awesome. He was on tour with Ricki Lee Jones last year. You can see a lot of their live clips on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/user/ninjaacademy You can listen to their take on Brubeck's Blue Rondo on their MySpace page here: http://www.myspace.com/ninjaacademy --tg Do they need ninja gear? - Drunk Monk - 05-08-2008 Because we could hook that up. Do you know these guys personally at all? http://www.martialartsmart.net/Styles_Ninja.html Re: Do they need ninja gear? - thatguy - 05-08-2008 Drunk Monk Wrote:Because we could hook that up. Do you know these guys personally at all? I've been emailing the drummer trying to get them to come back to Santa Cruz (so I don't have to drive). I'm changing my plan and going to go to the Hemlock on Sat. (I'm helping a friend move up to the city that day). If I go early, I'll talk to the guys in person. Otherwise, I'll send them an email. --tg Win a free Ninja Academy T-Shirt - thatguy - 06-26-2008 Just fill out the form at the end of the article here: http://smashedchair.com/features/artist ... my/nj.html --tg - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-06-2008 They said I won a t-shirt. I wish I remembered what I wrote. Did they just give t-shirts to everyone who wrote in? That would be cool. The "pirate" faction would have to come up with competing free t-shirts... - thatguy - 07-11-2008 Dr. Ivor Yeti Wrote:Did they just give t-shirts to everyone who wrote in? That would be cool. I didn't get one... --tg - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-12-2008 Well, it ain't got here yet. Maybe they don't have XL or XXL shirts. Ninjas are usually more compact. -Y - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-19-2008 TG, you are sooooo in luck! They sent the shirt...and I'm sure it will fit you, cuz it ain't gonna fit me. Next time you're in the hood, look me up. - thatguy - 07-20-2008 Well, that's awesome for me. Too bad it didn't fit your yeti-ness. You'll still have to check out the band if you haven't already... I broke a foil so I'll be planning a jaunt up your way soon. I'll let you know when. --tg Ninja Academy on IsGoodRadio.org - thatguy - 08-22-2008 The show already happened, but you can download it from their podcast: http://www.myspace.com/thisisgood ...interviews, old tracks from their CDs and some new tracks as well. Share and Enjoy! --tg dude.. - Drunk Monk - 08-27-2008 ..did you even go to the show or do you just watch it on the web? you're the only free bachelor in DOOM now. the rest of us are married or living in sin (which is just like being married without the tax break). you should get out more. Re: - thatguy - 09-21-2008 Thanks again...At the Treasure Island Music Festival I was able to show it off. upz: --tg Re: Ninja Academy shows Fri & Sat (incl a free show!) - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 09-22-2008 De nada; I was obviously not worthy. |
